Just went to the Research Data Access and Preservation Meeting 2012 in New Orleans, LA. Great meeting overall. I really enjoyed the size of the meeting and getting to speak with so many people working on data curation issues at institutional, national, and international levels. I really enjoyed hearing more in-depth discussion of the arXiv and @DataDryad communities and their respective plans for sustainability. I also appreciated hearing the many different pedagogical approaches from institutions like George Mason University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Wisconsin, and University of Illinois.
I could not believe that Peter Fox mentioned Charles S. Peirce in his talk, philosopher and mathematician. I was really into him back in the day and it reminded me that I need to read more besides just technical manuals.
See below for our small appetizer experience at the Praline Connection, thanks to @pemulis for photo and for Joe Hourcle for posing for this cool photo.
