Tour of James B. Hunt Jr. Library at North Carolina State University

So yesterday, thanks to our wonderful hosts Susan Nutter and Kristin Antelman, the Kuali OLE Functional Council got a VIP tour of the still under construction James B. Hunt Jr. Library at North Carolina State University. This library will be impressive. It is located at the Centennial Campus Research Park and has some fantastic computing visualization options including some advanced visualization spaces designed by Christie Digital. Additionally, they have some new media areas that are part black box theater as well as part visualization cave. In addition to all of this, they can store up to 2 million volumes in their compact storage book robot setup. Lots of things to learn from this design and the eventual implementation which will happen next winter in 2013. This type of design is the first modern research library I have seen in the U.S.
